Discussion Paper 10: Do Factory Managers Know what Workers Want?

There are significant differences in how managers perceive working conditions from how workers do, and these deviations can have a considerable impact on workers wellbeing and mental health. For example, such differences may lead the factory manager to under-provide certain workplace amenities. Furthermore, workers are particularly adversely affected by concern with low wages. Occupational safety and health considerations impact wellbeing at four times the rate of any other measure of working conditions, such as length of hours worked.
