Established in 2019, SIRAYE brings together not only the vast experience of the ILO in different countries, but also a new way of delivering support in a holistic and coordinated manner. Unique in the ILO, SIRAYE works at the national, regional and factory levels involving different ILO departments and key global programmes, including Better Work.
The learning part of our process takes place through advisory factory visits, training and industry seminars. Learning will focus on topics such workplace cooperation, human resources, occupational safety and health, productivity, financial literacy, communication, negotiation, supervisory skills etc. Depending on the focus of the learnings, they will either be implemented by the Better Work team or other ILO teams based on their specific area of expertise.

Factories that understand and comply with the national labour laws and international labour standards tend to have good reputations, repeat orders and better relationships with buyers. This course is designed to give participants a strong understanding of Ethiopian Labour Law and how to apply it to day to day activities.
Good Occupational Health & Safety (OSH) is good for business. This course builds awareness of OSH as an integral part of factory management. Focusing on a preventative approach to OSH including risk mapping, it guides participants to spot hazards, meet national and international standards and the understand the role of the OSH committee.
The Personal Hygiene training introduces participants to how germs spread and how to prevent their transmission. The module also talks about the importance of hand washing, including how to properly wash hands to prevent the spread of germs and when hand washing is necessary. Additional tips are provided for healthy dental hygiene and hygiene in the toilet and kitchen. Specific tips will be provided for female workers on proper menstrual hygiene as well as how to better manage their monthly symptoms. Lastly, some tips will address common myths and misconceptions that may negatively affect women’s health or promote unhygienic behaviours.
It is a 2 hour awareness creation training for factory operators
This specially designed course aims to help participants to recognise there are different forms of sexual harassment in the workplace, understand why sexual harassment is prevalent in garment factories, its impacts on the working environment and especially the factory’s productivity. Taking the training also helps participants to develop strategies to address and prevent sexual harassment, steps to deal with cases of sexual harassment at factories.

Workplace Harassment Prevention Training
We provide a comprehensive assessment to determine each factory’s overall progress on meeting international core labour standards and national labour laws. Assessment findings are coupled with the factory’s own diagnosis of the condition inside the enterprise to provide a fair and well-rounded picture of success, demonstrated progress and areas for continued improvement.
