Roopa Nair is the Director of Better Work. Since joining Better Work in 2014, she has managed various functions of the programme, including global operations, business engagement, communications, donor relations and broader stakeholder engagement. She also oversees the Better Work country programmes and represents Better Work on the Senior Management Team of the ILO’s Governance and Tripartism Department.
Before joining Better Work, Roopa worked in the corporate and non-profit sectors in Asia, Europe, and North America and in different supply chains including apparel and footwear, amongst others. She was Global Vice-President of Corporate Social Responsibility at PVH Corp, Director of Code Implementation and Monitoring at the Fair Labor Association (FLA), and prior to that, built Nike Inc’s first Corporate Responsibility team in South Asia. Roopa holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and an MA and BA from McGill University. She started her career as a researcher focusing on issues affecting migrant women working in both the formal and informal sectors.
