In her current role at IFC, Nabeera Rahman provides governance and operational support to the global Better Work program and the Labor in Hotels program. Since joining IFC in 2016, she has worked extensively on initiatives promoting gender equality, skills development, and inclusive leadership within the global apparel value chain.
Nabeera led the development of the IFC–ILO Gender Equality and Returns (GEAR) program, which aims to address gender imbalances in supervisory and leadership roles. She oversaw the implementation of GEAR across more than 100 apparel manufacturers in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, training over 1,000 workers in partnership with the International Labour Organization and global apparel brands. This work focused on strengthening workers’ skills and supporting career progression. She also contributes to adapting and delivering Better Work tools and approaches to extend their benefits to companies and workers in other industries.
Prior to joining IFC, Nabeera worked across the United Nations system on programs related to labour and inclusive trade. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from Manchester Metropolitan University and an MS in Economics from North South University.
