Ivo joined Better Work in 2013. Initially based out of Bangkok, he oversaw Better Work global advisory services and worked closely with senior advisors in the Better Work country programs in Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
Stationed in Geneva since 2016, Ivo manages Better Work’s factory services model. In this role, he coordinates the development of policies and services that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Better Work factory operations. In partnership with his colleagues in the global operations team and country teams, he ensures effective implementation of the programme’s global quality assurance and staff development framework. He also leads in the development of strategies and capacity building programmes that respond to persistent areas of non-compliance and strengthen cooperation between the private sector and national stakeholders to improve labour market governance in sourcing countries.
Ivo came to Better Work after having spent seven years at Fair Wear Foundation, where he focused on reviewing the purchasing practices of member brands and management of training and verification services in China, Vietnam and Bangladesh. Ivo started his work in the field at Better Factories Cambodia in 2006.
Hailing from the Netherlands, Ivo has a master’s degree in Business Studies from Maastricht University and a master’s degree in Development Studies from Utrecht University.
