Colin Fenwick is Head of Better Work in Asia, based in the ILO office in Bangkok. As part of Better Work’s Global Management Team, he is responsible for the factory services team; oversees operations in Cambodia, Indonesia, Pakistan and Viet Nam, and acts as liaison between Better Work and the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, as well as regional partners.
Before joining Better Work in April 2023, Colin spent 14 years in other senior ILO official roles, including as former Head of the ILO’s Labour Law and Reform Unit. He was most recently a field specialist in the ILO Country Office for Pacific Island Countries in Suva, Fiji. Colin is a specialist in employment and labour law; he has published widely on comparative and international labour law, and on labour regulation in developing economies. Before joining the ILO, Colin was a teaching and research academic at Melbourne Law School, serving as Director of the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law and Editor of the Australian Journal of Labour Law.
Colin was the Lead Expert for the ILO’s Technical Meeting on Decent Work in Global Supply Chains (February 2020). He jointly edited a book that includes analysis of private regulatory initiatives in supply chains and has published on the interaction of Better Work with public labour inspection in Indonesia. Colin holds Masters’ degrees in Law from the Universities of Melbourne and Virginia, and bachelors’ degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Melbourne.
