Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Claudine François, a Haitian native, joined Better Work Haiti in July 2014. Prior to BW Haiti Claudine launched a successful impact investment fund with Yunus Social Business to establish sustainable businesses in Haiti. As country director/fund manager of Yunus Social Business Fund Haiti, she advised and facilitated US, German-based corporations on technology and investment in the country. Capitalizing on her progressive business experience, she contributed to international conferences and conventions to facilitate business introductions. Claudine’s career spans more than 25 years in the United States, West and Central Africa and Haiti in different fields such as high integrity strategic leadership, business and international development, good governance and financial management. Claudine is well regarded for her collaborative nature and focus on empowering staff to achieve results and maintain accountability for them.
I have always felt existing business models in Haiti have been limited in their ability to generate massive employment, income or genuine innovation for those who need it most. Better Work Haiti plays a vital role in creating an ecosystem that is both sustainable for entrepreneurs while also meeting the needs of the many. What stands out to me about BWH’s model is its audacity: supporting daring entrepreneurs in some of the world’s most challenging business contexts to be globally competitive.
