In 2005, Shirendra joined MAS Holdings, to head their newly formed ‘Active’ division, a position he holds to date. MAS Active employs 19,000 people, and in 13 locations in Sri Lanka, one in India, and one in Amman (Jordan). Shirendra is a member of the Board of MAS Capital, the company through which all of MAS’s Apparel based investments are made. He is also a member of the Board of MAS Innovations.
Shirendra moved into the apparel industry when he assumed the position of Managing Director of Courtaulds Clothing Lanka in 1997, which was managed by MAS Holdings. He was also responsible for developing it from a green field site, to one of Sri Lanka’s largest apparel manufacturing businesses.
Shirendra holds a Mechanical Engineering (Honours) Degree from Imperial College, University of London, and is a qualified Chartered Mechanical Engineer. He also is an Associate of the City & Guilds Institute, London. He counts 25 years of sound manufacturing experience, in the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.
