Syed Atikul Alam joined ILO-BWB in 2014 as an Enterprise Advisor and was promoted to Team Leader in 2017. Prior to joining BWB, he served as a Social Counsellor at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Prime Minister’s Office, where he played a key role in enterprise level capacity building and monitoring in the EPZ. 

His responsibilities at BEPZA included supporting investment promotion, policy formulation, minimum wage determination, and managing industrial relations, alongside EPZ law reforms and the development of provident fund guidelines. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Alam worked in corporate research and marketing based private organization, contributing to research and business operations within the real estate sector. 

His areas of expertise include stakeholder engagement, public policy, social compliance, factory assessments, OSH and industrial relations. He is also highly experienced in strategic HR planning, wages, labour laws, and competency-based capacity building. 

Syed Atikul Alam holds a Master’s degree in Management.
