Conor Boyle is on a secondment with IFC from the ILO, where for nearly two decades he played an instrumental role in establishing and fostering the growth of the ILO/IFC Better Work Programme.
As a member of the Better Work Management Team, Conor oversaw the teams that led new programme development, learning, fund raising, relationships with global brands and retailers, and was the key liaison with IFC’s Better Work team. He worked for the ILO in Cambodia for four years, in Vietnam for a year, seconded to the IFC’s HCMC office, before moving to Geneva in ILO’s HQ in 2009. Before joining the ILO, Conor worked for 12 years on capacity building and leadership programmes with private and public sector organizations in Tibet, Cambodia, and Canada.
While most of his technical knowledge and practical experience with International Labour Standards, decent working conditions and social dialogue in global supply chains comes from the apparel, textiles, and footwear sectors, he has also worked in pharmaceutical, aquaculture, electronics and forestry sectors.
During his secondment with IFC, Conor will bring Better Work’s practices from the apparel industry to other sectors, with a particular focus on IFC investments in tourism, to support IFC clients on effective social dialogue, workplace collaboration and stakeholder engagement. He will also develop and implement the IFC/ILO learning exchange on environmental and social knowledge.
He holds Irish and Canadian citizenship. Conor has an MBA in Educational Leadership, a BA in Psychology and History, and a background in leadership, training, learning and development. In his free time, he loves being outdoors, skiing, hiking, and is an avid reader. Conor started his secondment with IFC on January 2, 2024.
