Abu Yousuf has worked with the ILO in several capacities since 2017. He currently leads the Better Work Programme in Uzbekistan. Prior to this role, Yousuf managed Better Work operations in Bangladesh. He played an instrumental role in developing the Better Work Bangladesh Strategy 2022-2027, with a strong focus on advancing decent work through multi-sectoral collaboration, elevating Better Work’s enterprise-level results to the institutional and sectoral levels, and establishing stronger alignment with the ILO to strengthen labour market governance.
In his previous role at GIZ in Bangladesh, Yousuf led the implementation of a global initiative on private sector adaptation to climate change. Throughout his professional career, he has used his expertise in SME promotion, skills development for the public and private sector, stakeholder management, resource mobilization and programme implementation. Yousuf holds a postgraduate degree in Global Management from the University of Applied Science, Bremen, Germany.
