Mobile App Brings Cambodian Labour Law to Users’ Fingertips

Better Factories Cambodia (BFC) has created a mobile application that brings the Cambodian Labour Law to those who work in the garment industry and those who research it. The app, which can be downloaded for free for Android and iPhone, provides an interactive and easy-to-use version of the labour law that is searchable and applicable to real-life situations.

Available in English, Chinese and Khmer, the app also allows users to calculate proper wages depending on the number of hours worked and correct maternity benefits. Other features include a range of photos documenting both good and bad practices, and a calendar of BFC trainings that factories can access to plan for staff capacity building. In addition, users can test their knowledge with an included labour law quiz.

Making the labour law readily available and digestible for factory owners, managers and other stakeholders can help to increase compliance in the workplace by building and supporting user knowledge.
