Deborah joined Better Work in 2009 and is currently leading the program and partnership unit that administers donor contributions to Better Work. Her responsibilities include donor outreach, conceptualization and development of project strategies and documentation, project monitoring in close collaboration with Better Work’s country programmes, as well as project evaluations. She has also been coordinating research on a potential expansion of the Better Work programme to new industries and new countries.
Holding a Master’s in international affairs from the Graduate Institute for international studies in Geneva, Deborah started her career as intern in a variety of organizations active in the area of refugee rights and humanitarian aid including NGOs in Ecuador and Ethiopia, Medecins sans frontières in Geneva and the UNHRC office in Vienna. Before joining the ILO, from 2007 to 2009, Deborah worked for Switzerland’s economic development cooperation agency where she was responsible for promoting sustainable trade with developing countries. During that time, she completed a certificate of advanced studies in social management of enterprises.
