Perspectives from managers and workers
The paper is based on an analysis of primary data collected through a representative survey of firm managers, focus group discussions among current and former garment workers, and key informant interviews in the Lao Garment Sector Survey (LGSS) coordinated by the World Bank between March and May 2011. To date there has been only limited documentation of these issues in Lao PDR and this research seeks to begin filling this gap. In particular, it seeks to help increase understanding of the dynamics and drivers of worker flows into and out of the industry.
