Better Work brings together national government, unions and employers’ organizations to promote social dialogue. Each country programme establishes a tripartite Project Advisory Committee (PAC), composed of representatives from relevant ministries, employers and workers’ unions at the sectoral level to support ongoing operations and sustainability. This is achieved by working together to strengthen practices and policies that will improve working conditions and industry competitiveness.

Successful social dialogue structures and processes have the potential to resolve important economic and social issues, encourage good governance, advance social and industrial peace and stability, as well as boost economic progress.

At a factory level

We make lasting changes in factories, and in the global supply chain they feed into by probing the root causes of why various labour laws and standards aren’t met and addressing entrenched workplace attitudes and practices. Areas we cover include child labour, discrimination, forced labour, freedom of association, collective bargaining and national labour law regulations on compensation, contract and workplace relations, occupational safety and health, working hours and more.
