Dan Cork is Technical Specialist on Industrial Relations and Discrimination at Better Work Global in Geneva. Dan has over 17 years of experience in the development field, working for the ILO for 7 years, with prior experience in the trade union movement and international NGOs. With Better Work, Dan is responsible for the programme’s Industrial Relation strategy as well as the focal point for Discrimination. He is a member of the Core Services team, where he oversees the development and delivery of training and tools for Better Work staff and stakeholders on Industrial Relations and Discrimination in the workplace. Dan works with IR Focal Points in each of the Better Work country programs to ensure that all Better Work staff are equipped with the right skills and sensitivity to promote workplace cooperation and to address complex industrial relations challenges in the factories.
He also specialises in the design and delivery of training and coaching for Better Work field staff on investigative skills related to the ILO Core Labor Standards in factory assessments. He coordinates Better Work’s engagement with other ILO Units relevant to Industrial Relations, including INWORK, ACTRAV, and ACT-EMP, as well as the programme’s engagement with the Global Unions on the Program’s Advisory Committee. Dan travels frequently on mission around the world to support in-factory quality assurance and stakeholder capacity building activities, and is a regional specialist on the Middle East, fluent in Arabic and French.
