Supervisory Skills
Learn more about the Supervisory Skills Training
The most popular Better Work course, SST training is specially designed for production managers and supervisors who supervise the production workforce.
Independent research has found that where supervisors are trained by Better Work, production lines are as much as 22% more productive, as workers reach production targets more quickly.
This training will give current and aspiring supervisors the tools they need to transform the workplace through improved supervision of and communication with workers. At the end of the course, participants will be more knowledgeable and adept in performing their supervision duties in areas such as motivating the workforce, maintaining discipline, delegating tasks and providing constructive feedback.

Managing people
As a continuation of the Supervisory Skills Training (SST), Better Work develops Managing People Course which is a more advanced course of SST. This is based on feedback and suggestions received from the factories for the BW to develop course with specific target for middle and top management level. The course covers topics such as type of management styles, cultural dimensions, listening skills and feedback techniques, managing works, and so forth.

Certified General Occupational Safety and Health Expert Training
General OSH Expert Training is a certified and mandatory training by the Ministry of Manpower. This training covers:
♦ General principles of OSH management systems, including Indonesian laws and regulations on OSH;
♦ Roles and functions of an OSH expert in the factory;
♦ Implementation of an OSH management system in the factory.
Training combines classroom, field exercise, group tasks and presentation methods.

Certified Fire Safety Expert Training
OSH Fire Safety Expert (Level A) Training is a certified and mandatory training by the Ministry of Manpower. With this training, participants will be equipped with not only practical knowledge on addressing fire risks at workplace, but also skills to conduct risk assessment, planning and design the necessary fire safety system along with the cost analysis.

Occupational Safety and Health Awareness
This is a half-day training to raise awareness on occupational safety and health at the workplace targeting workers at supervisors and operator level. The session emphasizes on the importance of understanding basic OSH principles and its application at workplace.

Occupational Safety and Health Management System
This is a four-day training required by the Ministry of Manpower since 1996, aiming to encourage factories to apply systematic approach on occupational safety and health. OSH management system training equips the participants on knowledge and skills to identify and manage risks in the workplace in a systematic manner to ensure the creation of a safe, productive and efficient working environment.

First Aid Training
This course will teach participants everyday first aid skills. The course focuses on key life-saving skills, provides opportunity to learn first aid for the most common injuries and emergency medical situation particularly in the workplace.

Workplace Cooperation and Communication
Effective workplace communication is essential in ensuring harmonious workers- management relations, and a productive environment for business to prosper.
By taking this important course, participants will develop a robust understanding of the importance of workplace communication through active learning and practice with different communication techniques –all of which can be directly applied in their factory. Key sessions include the essentials of workplace cooperation; what makes effective communication; common barriers; communication styles; and building effective systems for communication.

Preventing harassment and abuse
Better Work Indonesia offers training on harassment and abuse prevention at workplace for managers and workers, which integrates training on anti-harassment with other core areas of learning. These courses reinforce best practices, and include practical guidance on how to prevent and deal with harassment, including sexual harassment, at workplace. This is a 4-hour training session to raise awareness and understanding on harassment and abuse prevention at workplace.

Trade union training
Trade union is an important social partner in creating sound and effective industrial relations at workplace, however they need to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them in representing the workers’ rights and interests at the workplace. Using the ILO standardized module, the trade union administration training covers topic on legal basis of trade union, roles and functions, financial management, organizational development and leadership. This is a two-day training, targeting active committee members/leaders of trade union at factory level.

Financial literacy training
The financial literacy training aims to raise awareness and understanding amongst workers particularly in garment sector on how to manage their income and household budget effectively. This is due to the rampant cases where workers are trapped by debts and loan sharks because of the poor income management.

Disability Equality Training
The Indonesian government has launched a regulation for the enterprises to employ at least 1% persons with disability (PwD) from the total workforce. Better Work Indonesia offers the Disability Equality Training (DET) because BWI considers the disability equality issues as more than a matter of compliance to the laws, but recognizes this as an opportunity to create awareness on greater inclusion in the garment sector. The training is conducted as 2 days training, targeting supervisors and managers.
