Jordan COVID-19 Updates
As of 18 October, the Jordanian Ministry of Health reported 37,573 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country with 345 deaths.
On 18 October, the Ministry of Labour released a statement that allows non Jordanian workers who registered on the Hemayeh platform to issue new work permits given that they did not apply to leave the country. The decision excludes non Jordanian workers who received final clearance to leave the country and received their Social Security benefits.
Jordan garment Sector Update
As of 18 October, five factories (four exporting factory and one satellite unit) are closed due to reporting coronavirus cases inside these plants, which brings the total of closed factories to date due to reported cases to twelve factories (6 exporting factories and 6 satellite units)
More coronavirus cases are reported in several garment factories among Jordanian workers, and factory management are advising Jordanian workers to stay home for the time being.
Garment factories continue to raise awareness among workers on hygiene to ensure their safety and health while sanitising their facilities in accordance with the instructions of the Ministries of Labour and Health.

Amid the outbreak of coronavirus cases in the Jordanian garment industry, the Better Work Jordan operations team continues to virtually deliver Better Work services to participating factories and monitor the health situation in the industry.
