Building on their support for programmes in Haiti and Jordan, the Labour Program of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) has agreed to provide complementary funding for Better Work Vietnam. The funds—US$ 300,000 over the next two years—will be used to strengthen the capacity of the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) to carry out inspection services. In addition, the capacity of participating workers’ organizations to communicate, organize and collectively bargain will also be improved. It is expected that the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will have achieved increased knowledge and understanding of its members’ needs and interests, enabling it to better represent those interests. An overall improvement in industrial relations is thus expected among participating stakeholders.
